Building A Legacy

Building A Legacy

31 Weeks 9 to Go!

9.29.08-- Happy Anniversary! Today is our 1st Year Wedding Anniversary. I woke up to breakfast in bed (thanks honey)... I slept like a rock the night before. My parents were in town over the weekend and we were busy celebrating our anniversaries together! After breakfast-- I took off to go to work (which is getting Simon and Sophia ready for school and then driving them to school) After I finished up-- I headed home. Jon said he was probably going to take the afternoon off so I was trying to figure out if I'd have enough time to make get dinner prep started so that he wouldn't know my plans :) Shortly after arriving home I got a message from Jon stating he was on his way home... A few moments later he was walking in the door with flowers :) Jon also shared that he had dinner reservations for 6:30 but he was keeping the restaurant a surprise. We decided to take a drive down Skyline Drive. We had such a wonderful time and Little Cashew was doing jumping jacks in my stomach! :) I can't believe how close we are to meeting our little precious one! :) We spent the afternoon site seeing and just enjoying one another. Around 4:00-- we decided it was time to drive towards dinner. I took a little nap in the car as Little Stube kicked me under the ribs with both little feet :) We arrived at the Melting Pot for dinner! Yum!! What a nice surprise!! We had a wonderful 4 course meal and just reminisced about the last year we spent together. It's been great to learn to live life together.

This week is full of fun :) -- Thursday afternoon/evening-- Jon is in a golf tournament at St Davids. I'm looking forward to cheering on my man! I am also scheduling my Mama Mia massage that Jon purchased for me on Mother's Day! My back is definitely ready! Friday-- we are driving to PA with one of our students to take a tour of PSU- I'm hoping to get to spend a little time with the family :) Saturday morning we have our Bradley Method Birthing Class which this week is going over our Birthing Plan which I'm so excited about and then Saturday night I got Jon tickets (for our anniversary) to Red Molly! Yay!!

Next Tuesday is our 32 week appointment.

No Room In the Inn

9.24.08-- Yesterday was my 30 week doctors appointment. It went very well. I had been experiencing some pain that I thought might be a sign of another kidney stone or a UTI, but after checking me, my midwife said that the cramping was normal especially for someone of my size. She was trying to figure out what position the baby was in-- but after feeling around, she said it was hard to tell because I was all baby and she couldn't tell what was baby and what was muscle. She did say that she thinks I'm still in the head down position because I'm getting lots of kick in the ribs!!

Other than that-- nothing new to report. Babies heart beat was nice and strong and so much louder! hehe :)

Week 30-- Happy 30th Anniversary Marmee & Dird

September 11th @ 9:15am-- We scheduled the Glucose Test to check for Gestational diabetes. This test involves me fasting for atleast 8 hours and then chugging a 10oz high sugary drink in 5 minutes or less. After an hour the nurse is to come and take your blood. Easy enough... NO!! I got up the morning of, STARVING!! Jon and I headed to our doctors appt to begin the test. I was given the Fruit Punch flavor which was apparently the flavor of choice (they also have orange and in some places lemonlime) I think I might have been able to handle the lemonlime a little better but it wasn't an option. Anyway, I began to chug as soon as I got into the office. 5 mintues to some seem like eternity, but when trying to chug a disgusting drink (and I don't chug ANYTHING!!) those minutes flew by before I could blink. I was getting close to finishing when I gave up. I was feeling nauseaous and there was no way I was going to keep going and risk another toilet hugging event. NO WAY!! My midwife Anne came in to give me the bad news-- I was going to have to try and take it again tomorrow (boo :() She did, however, give me hope because this time, I was to drink 8oz of Apple Juice and 1/2 a RIPE banana. I did it! Friday morning, I woke up and did it!! We headed into the doctors and they drew my blood and gave me a nice shot in the buddocks! Ouch! No news is always good news so we were keeping our fingers crossed and praying that we wouldn't hear from them. Monday, Sept 15th- I received a call from the midwives stating that my test results came back clear of diabetes, but... that I was very anemic and was going to have to start taking more iron. GREAT! Just what my already very constimated self needs!! I did find some awesome chocolate bars (called Belly Bars) for the pregnant and nursing which gives me all the nutrition I need during pregnancy and while nursing... so I've been taking one a day and hopefully the next test will look better!

September 17th- Jonathan and I went for a tour of the Birthing Inn-- which is where we will deliver our child! It's a very nice facility and will have plenty of room for visiters. Each mommy gets her own private room after delivery-- so you are all welcome to stop by! The baby can stay with me pretty much the whole time which was nice to know! The midwives and the Birthing Inn all seem to line up with our expecations and our wants for the delivery so that has given me extreme peace of mind. My hospital stay is expected to be 2 days (3 if they have to do a C-Section).

Today I have my 30 week Doctors Appt on my parents 30th Anniversary (Happy Anniversary) I don't know if they are taking my blood at this appt-- but I'm always ready for anything. I will now begin meeting with my midwives every other week until I hit 36 weeks and then it will be every week until the little one comes! I'll update and let everyone know how it goes! I just love hearing the heartbeat! :)

The Bradley Method!

We began taking our Birthing Classes on Saturday, August 30th from 9:00-11:15. The course is 12 weeks long and is preparing us for Natural Childbirth. Already, I'm doing little exercises to get you (Little Cashew) ready to come on out! Daddy and I also practice relaxation which is so RELAXING! Daddy gives mommy a massage each night before bed. I LOVE it!! I'm so excited for each Saturday morning. Dad and I are learning so much! I've always had the desire to breastfeed but now I'm soooo excited for the opportunity to bond with you! I also am learning the importance of trying to hold off on medications that really don't help the body do it's natural thing. I'm still soooo nervous about labor-- but hopefully with each passing month it will get a little less scary.
