Happy 1st Day of Fall

Happy 1st Day of Fall

Today begins the 1st day of Fall. I can't express how excited I am for this season. I'm already looking ahead at the fall calendar for some fun events to take the kids too! Already on our list is our annual Pumpkin Patch. Ruthie and I are already talking about decorating our sidewalk with our pumpkins- and I cannot wait to roast the pumpkin seeds!

Our first fall Penn State Weekend- after naps, Ruthie and I painted a Garden Stone outside while Brayden sat peacefully in his bumbo seat. After that- we decided to run around and take pictures.

4 Generations- 1st Born Girls--  a girls evening leads to a fun photoshoot

Photo Shout - September

Photo Shout- yes, I realize I wrote shout and not shoot... but if you lived in this house you would understand that shout is indeed, the correct word.

Last weekend my bestie Kathryn and I went clothes shopping for our kiddos. We were exhausted, but still were incredibly thankful that we had the opportunity to go- AND ... we got some great deals!!

I was giddy excited to show Ruthie (especially) all the cute outfits I got for her. I knew she wouldn't be as excited, but I'd have all fall/winter to enjoy my purchases whether she liked them or not. Last evening, I asked her if she wanted to do something fun- a photo shoot perhaps?!! - She squealed with excitement to have her picture taken- so here she is:

Brayden's 1st Fever

Brayden's
1st
Fever

This morning- after a nice restful sleep I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. That lasted, maybe an hour! Brayden woke up feeling hot. I did a quick scan of his forehead and found that he was running a fever. My first instinct was not to panic. Ruthie just had a fever over the weekend. It lasted a day and it was over. Halfway through the day, not feeling calm anymore. Brayden's fever continues to rise and tylenol isn't touching it. He also has been spitting up (different then his normal spit-ups) and hasn't been awake more then a few minutes at a time. So sad. Tonight, once Jon got home, we called the doctor again to make sure there wasn't something more we should be doing. We are doing everything we should be doing, but it doesn't seem enough. I hate the feeling of helplessness. Right before we put Brayden to bed his tempter was 103- so scary :( ... please pray for my little guy!

UDPATE!!! - I took Brayden to the doctors this morning. Ears look great! Throat was red and irritated so it's probably sore. Brayden has been a champ today. Still has a high fever, but he's getting some rest and just extra extra cuddly.

GI Series

GI SERIES

Brayden had his GI Series on Wednesday, August 31st at 10:00 am. I felt pretty calm since my great friend had the same procedure done for her daughter a few years ago. The hardest part was to know he was hungry and not feed him. I mean seriously, when you're child's not gaining weight, why do doctors insist on having them "fast". (I do know why, but it just seems silly)

Anyway, the doctor in the radiology department was great! He walked me through the procedure before he got started and basically said, most likely, Brayden would for the 1st time in his life, not spit-up because he was in front of the camera. I told him, Brayden would prove him wrong!! Guess who won this little competition... not me!

Brayden took the drink well. I guess when you're used to awful tasting formula, you'll take just about anything. We watched as the dye went down his system. After about 5 minutes, they took the bottle away in hopes to make him cry. For the first time, Brayden didn't cry!! haha! After about 10 minutes, the Radiologist was finished and very pleased. Everything looks GREAT and is where it needs to be. Answered prayer! He definitely suffers from some reflux, but I'm happy to report as he's gaining weight easily now, the reflux is getting better too!

2 Weeks later- Brayden is doing incredible! We have a scale at our house now and weighed him the other day and it read... 16 LBS!!! My little guy is getting big! I also believe he's grown 2 1/2 inches since his 6 month appt! I cannot WAIT for his 9 month appointment to SHOCK the doctors!! Here's to hoping and praying that besides his regular scheduled allergist appointments, we won't see another doctor until his healthy 9 month appointment!!

Weight Watchers- A New Journey

Weight Watchers
A New Journey
On Tuesday morning I made a decision. A decision that's not going to just affect me, but my entire family. Now that I'm not nursing and have no excuse for my unhealthy eating habits, I've decided I'm ready to make a change. I love food, especially sweet ones- but it comes at a price. And that price, I'm just not willing to pay anymore! So, Tuesday morning after eating a 100 calorie English Muffin and a one point fruit roll-up I joined Weight Watchers. I've done Weight Watchers in the past and I know it works, but so much as changed since I was in the program.

One thing I forgot was how HUNGRY, well STARVING, I would be the first few days. I'm happy to report that Day #3 and I'm still hungry but I'm feeling hopeful. I'm learning what foods to try and fill myself with and retraining my body to feel full before I'm stuffed. I joined Weight Watchers Online (I did the meeting the 1st time around) and I'm still wondering if this is the way to go- I like that it's in my house but I wish I had a point calculator for when I go shopping and out and about. I guess there's an app for that!

If any of you have some really great recipes, please pass them on this way. I've found a couple of fun recipes online that I'm looking forward to trying.

So- here's to a jump start on getting my pre-baby body back! No more excuses- it's time!

7 Months- Say Goodbye Baby!

7 Months

If I wanted to sum up this past month with one word, the word I would chose is "GROWING". Brayden Timothy is amazing me each day with the rate he's growing. Not just in weight and height, but my baby is becoming a big boy- and I just can't believe it! I never thought we were going to leave the 3-6 months clothing that we've been in since Brayden was 2 months old! But!!! Drum roll please, we're in 6 months clothes but already, his little toes need more room!! Bradyen has gained (ATLEAST) 2 lbs and 2 inches in the last 3 weeks!! It would not surprise me if he catches up with Ruthie by 9 months (the only time in her life thus far that she's slowed down!) We shall see in a few short months!!

I Love Food-I So much to share about my little guy! He's amazingly cute!! Loves his mommy and gives me the biggest brightest smile every time I enter the room. Brayden, since placing him on formula and adding solid foods (that he's not allergic too) is doing so much better. He still spits up, but even that is getting a little better. His eczema has cleared up tremendously and he doesn't feel the need to itch himself 24/7.
Brayden opens his mouth WIDE and helps my hand guide the food to his mouth (sound familiar)
I have been busy in the kitchen making baby food for my little guy. So far, everything I've made has been a huge success, especially if I add applesauce to it!

Applesauce
Green Beans
Squash
Pears
Carrots
Sweet Potato- haven't tried yet

At the beginning he had some banana and avocado with chicken, but since we've found out he's allergic to chicken, I've yet to reintroduce the banana/avocado.

My Hands- Brayden has learned Patty Cake. He loves to clap his hands. He'll be learning "So Big" by the end of this month!! I have also introduced Sign Language, but he hasn't started to sign back yet. He will!! Ruthie is loving helping me sign to Brayden and has also loved trying little bites of all the new foods I'm introducing!!

Here is the sweetest video:

Growing Strong- Brayden is now using his legs to hold himself up. He gets stronger and stronger each day!! What a difference two pounds have made! He is also sitting up more and more and getting very strong. I can't wait until he's sitting up and more confident without be sitting close by!!

Sleep Training- We decided to start sleep training Brayden officially. He's been sleeping well since day #4- but were now not feeding him during the night when he does wake up. I will say that the first night of screaming was terrible for me. I remember being a lot calmer with Ruthie :) I am happy to report that one terrible night- and since then, he's slept through the night without any trouble. Even when we made a spontaneous trip to Pittsburgh and we were all in the same room! Great job Brayden!

My Daddy's Back to School & Mommy Works!- Daddy is now in full swing back at it getting his Doctorate and Mommy now is watching a sweet two year old girl, Abby and helps Adrianna and Jonathan get on and off the bus during the week. Life, although busy, is going well. The first week Jon was back to school, the Grange Fair was going on so the kids and I kept busy. Brayden and enjoyed his first fair and Ruthie, she can't wait for next year! Now that I'm work, I'm getting on a really good schedule with the kids and that's going very well for all.
