Brayden- The Last 4 Months

Brayden- The Last 4 Months

20 Month (October)
Brayden loves letters. He is learning every letter and loves when we write them on the etch and sketch for him. Ruthie learned all her letters by 18 months so I wasn't shocked when he started pointing letters out on our walk down to the nursery or in the middle or Target. Ruthie has been a big inspiration on helping him. She will read him ABC books and ask him to tell her what letter she points at. :) It's a lot of fun to see them learn and teach each other.

21 Month (November 2012) Letters, Letters, and more Letters! Brayden gets frustrated with Jon and I if we don't stop whatever we're doing when he wants us to write letters for him. He knows that certain letters turn into other letters by drawling basic lines. For instance: If you draw a P he knows that a line down will make a R. A circle below will make a B and he's determined to "fix" it for us. He knows a O turns into a Q with a simple line. F to E. L to E. T to and I.  It's amazing!! I just watching him create letters. He just won't stop!! He also knows that turning his head will turn a M to a W. Or Z to and N.

In November- while we were on vacation, Brayden decided he wanted to sleep in a big boy bed like his daddy. I didn't believe he'd really do much but play- but decided I'd let him try it out for a few minutes before moving him to the pack-n-play. To my surprise, he fell fast asleep. Brayden has been sleeping in a big boy ever since!! New Years we surprised Brayden and Ruthie with bunk beds. They LOVE them!! With them sharing a room- we have slowly begun working on the nursery!! So exciting!

22 Month (December 2012)- Writing letters- he's obsessed! After coming home from a fabulous week in New Bern, North Carolina with Jon's parents, Brayden came home with the basic skills of how to hold a pencil and since then, he's taken off. Sometimes I catch him tracing the letter in the air before putting it down on his etch and sketch. I love watching his mind work.

December, when we were supposed to get ready to go to Christmas in Philly- we got a ton of snow. I had the opportunity to take Brayden out for his first experience in the snow. I believe he would have LOVED it had I had boots that fit his poor feet. Instead, I had Ruthie's rainboots that were three sizes too big!! :) We made the most out of our outing and did have a great time.

23 Month (January 2013)- Brayden continues to LOVE learning. Now he can write atleast 10 letters:
W, M, E, F, I, T, A, L, B, O, Q, H, U
He also loves to show off that he knows many of the letter sounds. He's amazing. I can't get enough of how much he's taking in. The other night I asked him what letter certain words started with: Cat, Dog, Fox, and he could tell me 100% what letter the words started with.

I can't believe in just a few short weeks my son will be 2!! It's amazing to watch life flash by. I started planning his party a few weeks ago and thought we'd go with Elmo but I gave him the choice between Cars, Trains, or Elmo and not too shockingly-- the responded with "Super Why". So Attention All Super Readers-Brayden's Having A Super Why Party!!

In the above picture, I had a little date with my sweet little man. I took him to Dunkin Donuts where he had his first (well actually 4) mini donuts!! He loved them!! We had hoped to go to the library for some fun playing with trains, but unfortunately, it was closed. Instead, we went to Walmart and I let him ride on the rides inside the mini arcade. Our last stop was to see daddy at work. What a great date with my little man.

28 Week Glucose Testing

28 Week Glucose Testing-
Today was my 28 week appointment that included the Glucose Test. I arrived hopeful that I could get through the awful drink and not have to do the 3 hour fasting test that is just so hard to schedule with work and family life! I was given the choice between orange and fruit punch (both flavors I hate!) I decided fruit punch had the best chance. Within a few seconds I realized that I was probably not going to be able to finish without puking. When I made it halfway I started dry-heaving. I really didn't want to have gotten halfway for nothing... but it wasn't looking promising. I dry-heaved four more times in the 10 minute span BUT ... I made it!! I finished the drink and was able to get my blood work completed (even if I was spinning around the room!) I've never felt so shaky!! Now I wait and see if I passed or failed. I believe 100% that I don't have any issues with gestational diabetes-- but I think 90% of the woman fail the first test and I WILL NOT take the 2nd test. So, lets just hope that I pass!!

I met with Dr. Roquet this morning. She's so sweet!! She confirmed that I'm overdoing it and that I need more rest. ha ha! She insisted that I try really hard to listen to my body and rest as much as possible. Today I will begin meeting with a doctor every other week! I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is flying by!!

So-- we wait! We wait to see how the glucose test went and I'll meet with Dr. Roquet in two weeks!!

28 Weeks

28 Weeks

Little boy or girl Stube is the size of an eggplant and it sure does feel like it!! This little peanut is so full of energy and I'm sure if you looked close enough you'd see tiny bruises all over the inside and outside of my body!

This week I have my 2nd Glucose test. I'm going to try and drink the awful sugar drink to save myself three extra hours at the doctors office. Please pray-- the last time I attempted to drink this drink, I threw-up AND overflowed the toilet in the lab.

Speaking of little peanuts... my brother and sister are having a baby!! Today was their 20 week ultrasound and oh my gosh-- he or she is so adorable! I'm in love!! I'm so excited to be pregnant with Natalie and excited that our children will only be 8 (ish) weeks a part! We're in the process of planning their Gender Reveal party for next month!!

26 Weeks

26 Weeks- Baby is the size of a head of lettuce. Lettuce start the countdown... 13 more weeks! That's not a whole heck of a lot of time left!!

This weekend I started feeling "different"-- I don't know how else to explain it. My stomach started feeling crampy and I felt nauseous not really wanting to eat and extremely tired. After spending all Sunday on the couch sleeping and in pain- I decided to call the doctor today and make an appointment. He checked me and said that it was possible that I'm starting early labor. He thinks more likely- I've just been overdoing it and that this is my bodies way of telling me to slow down and rest- but we'll get the results tomorrow. If the test comes back positive- we'll go from there-- but most likely it's negative and they'll just have me on a modified bed-rest. AKA- take it easy!!

While at my appointment- the doctor had me tested for Fifth Disease since it's going around Ruthie's school and also had my thyroid tested. This week I also have my hemotologist appointment and my last weekly B-12 shot this week.

24 Weeks

24 Weeks

I cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy is flying by. I really can't complain. After the toughest 14 weeks in the beginning I've had nothing but wonderful things to say about this pregnancy. Yes, I'm exhausted, but this has truly been a great experience so far.

Starting right before Christmas I got an iron infusion and started taking weekly B-12 shots. I haven't noticed any difference in how I feel but I have been sick for two weeks now. I am pretty certain if I had  what my body is lacking that I would have been able to fight off this cold a little better. That and some hard family stuff that has left me wide awake many nights has kept this cold lingering.

Please pray that the rest of this pregnancy goes smoothly. I have a lot of "dreams" of how the end is going to look- but reality is- I just want a beautiful healthy baby.
