Building A Legacy

Building A Legacy

Contractions Begin... or is it gas??

11.19.08-- Well, yesterday was my 38 week doctors appointment. Once again, I waddled in hoping for some kind of miracle. You know the one... where the doctor says "wow! It's time... you're going to have this baby in the next hour"-- but to my dismay... NOTHING! In fact, I believe my midwife said "expect to go late and then if you early... you will be pleasantly surprised" (THEM WORDS ARE FIGHTING WORDS!!!) So anyway, the doctor listened to our little one's heartbeat (nice and strong) and felt around and said everything looks and sounds great. And then she said "see you next week"... grrr... see you next week! Geez... how bout "see you in an hour"
So Jon and I headed to Target to get some materials for youth ministry from now until the end of the year. Together, we've set-up his Paternity Plan to make sure everything runs smoothly for remainder of the year. (Pray that it does!!) I just want Jonathan and I to be able to enjoy the first few weeks with our little one without feeling the stress of his job knocking on our door.
So... we shopped, picking up supplies and getting some goodies to stock the house since I don't do much these days but sit on the couch and watch a Baby Story~ :)
Afterwards-- I headed home and took a much needed nap. I started feeling a little crampy and figured it best that I get some rest before I headed to go pick up Simon and Sophia (the kids I nanny). I woke up feeling pretty terrible. I almost called Jon to ask him to fill in for me... but eventualy I got my butt out of bed and left to pick them up. On the way back to the Toback residence, I called Jon and asked him to make sure he kept his phone on him for the remainder of the day. I was feeling more and more crampy and my back hurt as well. (was something starting??) After work, I headed home and waited for Jon to arrive home as well. We ate some dinner and I told him it was probably best that we both got out of the house and went to our Sherpherd groups. (this could be are very last before baby) I reminded him to keep his phone on him... but felt comfortable since I knew Maureen (a dear friend, our lactation consultant, and now our doula) was going to be at my Shepherd group with me and would tell me if I needed to head home or head to the hospital.
The pain increased some throughout the evening. I sipped on water and found myself heading home STARVING after group. Jon met me at home... I took a hot bath and then he rubbed my back for a good hour as what felt like contractions would come and go every 15 or so minutes. Finally, around 1 pm I fell asleep and when I woke up this morning-- NOTHING! The back ache went away and I haven't felt any contractions as of 11:30 this morning. I guess time will tell if anything is going to pick up again or if that was just a tiny dose of what is to come. I'll keep you posted!! I'd really love to have this baby before Turkey Day!! I want my stuffing, mashed potatoes loaded with gravy!! Yum! And as I told little Simon... when you all are stuffing your faces and getting big, bloated belly's.. mine is going to shrink!! Right?!?! :)

The Pregnant One (Erin)

36 Weeks... Almost there.... right?

11.3.08--

Well, here is an overdue post with what is going on with me and little Cashew. Pregnancy is progressing. I feel like at any moment I will go into labor! I'm sore-- tired of being pregnant and feel like I have most things together to welcome the little one!

10.25.08-- Aunt Awesome threw me a fabulous baby shower. What an amazing time! I left feeling so blessed and so excited to get back to my nursery!

I would not have had it any other way... it was perfect!! :) All my sister-n-laws were able to come which was so nice. When we got to Pinky's... she had each person design a onesie which was such a great idea and a way for us to sit around and just chat. The food was fabulous as well!!

After the shower-- Eric and Pinky had a little hayride and pumpkin decorating party before the big PSU Game againist Ohio. Of course... we were hoping that we'd knock little Stubage out but... no such luck. I'm still pregnant!!

11.3.08-- Over the weekend Jon and I spent some time putting up the pack-n-play in our bedroom. Man-- it was not as easy a task as we orignally thought. I am mostly packed for the hospital and hope to finish up today. I have myself and the baby stuff packed-- but I'm working on getting Jon's stuff together (like swimming trunks etc...) We went to Baby's R Us again this weekend which was just a fabulous time. Jon and I picked out our little girl outfit to bring home baby in. It's sooooo cute!!

On Saturday-- we had our birthing class with our 30 minute labor rehearsal. When we arrived-- we found ourselves one couple short! That's right.. one of the couples had their little boys! They were pregnant with twin boys!! Due in December-- they were early but mom and kiddos are doing well. Jon and I had a good time practicing. I got an A! I just wish it was going to be that easy! hehe :)

After our class we headed to the fire station to get our car seat installed-- of course, they would be out on a call and all that work to make an appt and we left with the car seat still just sitting in the back of the car! :) -- Then... we went to Babys R Us and I finally found our little girls outfit (if Cashew is a girl) and picked up a few other items. So fun!

We ended the day with getting mostly packed for the hospital! I'm almost there! I promise I will be all packed by the end of the day today!!

So for this week-- we have an appointment on Wednesday. We will now meeting with our midwives once a week. They'll be testing me for Strep B this week and hopefully that will come out negative.
