A Rough Day With the Ru

(11 weeks 1 day old-- Air & Space Museum w/Uncle Nat)

It has been a lot of fun to get to know Ruthie with each passing day. She's a great baby and I can't wait (although I wish it would go a little slower) for each new milestone.

First-- my rough day with the little Ru... It was a typical Monday morning. Ruthie has been on a great schedule of getting up, playing until around noon, napping for an hour or two, and then up for another few hours before going down for a late afternoon nap. Well... this Monday would be different. Ruthie ate and then I laid her down for a nap (hoping she would get a good sleep and then I'd feed her again and take her shopping). Well, a few minutes after putting her down, she was awake and ready to go soooo... I decided we'd go shopping and then when we got home I'd try again to put her down. BIG MISTAKE!!! First, I left the house leaving behind a very crucial item... her Poe (aka her pacifier) We headed to Costco first to grab some diapers and wipes. She fussed a little, but she did okay. Then we headed next door to Target to get some groceries. Lets just say my first stop was to the baby section to grab a pacifier and stick it in my crying daughters mouth. (That's right... no taking it home and boiling it first) (She lived!!) I carried on trying to get some neccessities for the house but ended my trip short because my little one was exhausted and apparently NOT going to sleep in her carseat like she normally would. We checked out with a few groceries and headed towards the car. (It was very windy) Ruthie cried the whole way out to the car letting me know she hated the wind. I opened the door and down came the diapers. I had to pull them completely out of the car so I could get Ruthie in. In the meantime, my cart started to roll away (they should have brakes!!) I got Ruthie in the car, grabbed my cart, pulled it back and started putting the bags of groceries into the car when the big bag of can goods ripped and went rolling all over the parking lot!! Not a good trip! I eventually made it home after picking up all the cans, fed Ruthie, and she went down for a nice long nap!!

My Valentine <3

Jonathan & I celebrated our 2nd married Valentine's Day together with our beautiful 10 week old daughter. At 4:44 am Ruthie woke and was wanting to be fed so I fed her and handed her over to Jon to burp and change her diaper. In her nursery, I had sitting on her changing table, a frame with Ruthie's picture that plays "Baby Love" and a onesie that Ruthie and I made together that had our hand prints and a message that read "Mommy & Me Love Daddy". We went back to bed shortly after and woke again at 8:00 am. We pulled Ruthie into bed and slept another hour and half.

For Valentine's Day-- all I wanted to was to relax with my hubby and baby and watch "Nights in Rodanthe"... so Jonathan bought me the movie and had it set up in our dvd player this morning. The day consisted of grilled cheese & tomato soup, a nice walk around our neighborhood, Chinese take-out, & a movie! It was absolutely wonderful!!

Happy Valentine's Day Ruthie!!
Can't wait to spoil you with little treats in years to come. For now, mommy's milk is all you need!

Ruthie's 2 Month Appt

(Ruthie coming home from her doctors appointment)
(2.10.09)

We Made It
!!!

I wasn't so sure how we were going to do with Ruthie's 2 month appointment and her first shots, but it's over now and Ruthie's peacefully sleeping.

Ruthie showed off her best features by smiling and cooing throughout the appointment. She measured in at 12 lbs 8 1/2 oz and is in the 90% in weight and was 23 inches in length and in the 75% in height. Ruthie is expected to have some new milestones coming up in the next few weeks. She is already starting to rock and will be learning how to roll over from side to side. YIKES!! I'm very excited but not looking forward to not being able to set her on the bed and walk over to the dresser or to chase out the cat!
Ruthie had to get three shots today, her DTaP (Diptheria, Tetanus, & Pertussis, Prevnar, and HiB (Hemophilis Influenza Bacteria. We were instructed NOT to give her any tylenol so we would be able to tell if she had a reaction or not. :( Jon held Ruthie down while the nurse gave her three shots :( I cried a little, but as soon as she was done, I took her and held her in my arms. She stopped crying as soon as we left the room and fell asleep in my arms. I am not ready to do this again for a long time!!

2 Months--A Letter To Our Girl

Here is my baby girl
Ruthie at 2 Months

Dear Ruthie--

Happy 2 Month Birthday! I can't believe how much you've grown and changed over the last two months. You're such a wonderful child. We have a lot of fun together. You are smiling all the time now. When daddy enters the room and starts calling your name, you'll move your head from side to side, smiling, looking for him. You are sleeping through the night (you've been sleeping through the night for several weeks) and giving mommy and daddy such much needed rest. You wake up around 6 am and want fed, but then you are thrilled to lie with mommy and daddy and get a few more hours of sleep. I think you'll enjoy sleeping in just like your parents! We try and give you lots of belly time throughout the day. You are a very strong baby. You'll lift your head up and move it from side to side. I bet you'll start crawling early! We believe you're an extrovert. That might be because we always have you around people. You'll go to anyone and don't cry unless you are exhausted or want to be fed. Daddy and I will sing and dance around you and you'll stare up at us and wiggle. It's so cute!
We have you're two month appointment scheduled and we can't wait to see how big you've gotten.

You are our sunshine. You brighten each and every day! I pray that you'll continue to grow and continue to stay healthy. We pray that you'll be a woman of God and keep him rooted in your life. We love you Ruthie Mackenzie.

Great Grandma Yingling, Marmee, Mommy, & Ruthie

We traveled up to State College to visit the great grandparents, and other family. We had a great time but found that it went by to quickly. Ruthie seemed a little overwhelmed by the end of the trip and was happy to be home and back to her normal schedule. I think she was beginning to think her carseat was her new home. :)

During our visit to State College, we were blessed to visit with the Drakes. They are having a baby girl in March and we are thrilled! We asked them if they would be one of Ruthie's sets of God Parents and they've accepted! They're stuck with us!! Ruthie's other Godmother will be
Katie Myers. Jonathan and I spent a lot of time talking about Godparents and what we wanted for our child. To us, a Godparent is one who will be Spiritual Guide for our child's life.

Ruthie also got to meet some of her Great Aunts & Uncles and 2nd COUSINS!!!
