Building A Legacy

Ruthie's 1st Road Trip

Ruthie went on her first road trip to meet her Aunt Heather & Uncle Nat and also meet her great grandparents (The Orams) a few days after Christmas. A normal 3 hour drive took us just about 4 hours because we had to make a stop to feed Ruthie along the way and also because daddy forgot to get directions so we took the scenic route. :) Ruthie enjoyed her car trip and I got to practice nursing outside the comfort of my own home. We first traveled to Lancaster, PA to meet the grandparents and some of the extended family on Jon's side. Great Grandpa was the first to hold Ruthie.

** A little humor: We decided NOT to tell them we were going to come up to visit incase we wouldn't be able to come (if someone got sick or we just couldn't make the drive yet). I knew this... but when we were talking to the grandparents days before the gathering, I spilled the beans. I didn't know what to say after realizing that I had ruined the surprise. All I could come up with was "just don't tell the others" which again, gave the grandparents more insight that "others" would also be coming to visit.

After the visit with the great grandparents, we went back to Heather & Nat's in Philly to visit with them for a couple of days.

We had a great time! All in all, we only forgot ONE important item (our suitcase) So Jon and I didn't have anything for the two days we were visiting, but mommy did a good job packing for Ruthie, so we were fine!

Here are some more pictures from our visit:
