12.1.08-- Today I am officially one day past my due date. A day I never saw in my future but here it is. I can't believe I have not met my little child, but with each passing moment, my anticipation grows more and more.
Today we had a doctors appointment and they did end up checking my cervix to see where we were at. I am 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. I really have no idea what that means other than I have 9 cm to go until I can start pushing! (sorry to those who don't want all the details) but when the doctor was checking me, I had some blood which is also a very good sign that things are moving along. Hopefully, tomorrow things will swing into action (I say tomorrow because the midwife Margie is on call and that would just be wonderful!) I have had some cramping and some contractions. I've worked on some pelvic rocks today to try and help move the baby down so we will see.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Even though little Stube decided to hang out inside my belly instead of meeting our families. Jon's parents, Nat & Heather (which btw... they are now expecting a little one in July!! Yay!!!) Andrew and his fiance Kristen (and her folks) came in for the holiday as well as my parents and Eric & Pinky (and her brother Matt). We had such a great time. I can't believe how quickly the weekend flew by. It was so nice to have everyone come here to celebrate with us. I know Jon and I both felt so blessed by everyone's flexibility to come to Leesburg this year. We did miss you Evan & Natalie and Ethan & Ligia and know we thought and talked about you often.
Well-- one of the doctors orders was to get lots and lots of rest-- so with that-- I am going to say good night.
